Jonna has more than seven years of professional and volunteer experience on renewable energy issues. Significant accomplishments include designing a partnership program between I-Renew and Alliant Energy to promote Alliant’s Second Nature green power program in which I-Renew receives a share of the avoided marketing costs. She has conducted more than 50 energy audits for faith-based institutions and coordinated media and faith community advocacy on national energy policy. She is a Past President of the Iowa Renewable Energy Association and a Board Member of the Environmental Leadership Program. She served as National Coordinator for Energy Star Congregations, as Co-coordinator of the Iowa Interfaith Climate Campaign, and as Environmental Outreach Coordinator for Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center. She holds a Masters of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School, where she served as Environment Chaplain, and a B.A. in English and French from the University of Northern Iowa. Jonna is Executive Director of 1000 Friends of Iowa.

The BIG news - Saturday, May 20th, 2006, Jonna has gave birth to a baby boy. Eric and Jonna are the proud parents of their first child, Reuben Higgins-Freese.
